How Do I Improve My 802. WEP and WPA-TKIP aren't compatible with 802.11n.Īdvanced Intel® Wireless Adapter Settings If configured for 11n mode only, legacy devices that support only 11a/b/g aren't able to connect to the AP. This setting controls the type of Wi-Fi devices (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) that can connect to the AP.įor optimal performance and compatibility, enable support for all wireless modes.
Certain AP may allow 40MHz only mode which prevents legacy devices that support only 20MHz from connecting to the AP. NoteĬertain AP may not have this setting but instead have a different setting called transmission speed or similar.įor optimal performance and compatibility, enable support for all channel widths. Another choice would be to remove the WLAN adapter from within Device Manager and then scan for hardware changes to see if Windows 10 can find and load a generic driver, for the card, and see if that works. For example, you may configure the AP to use and at the same time.Ĭontrols the width of the channel (20 or 40MHz) your AP uses to communicate with client devices on your Wi-Fi network. Wider channel width allows higher performance. You can always check with Broadcom Support, and see if there is an updated driver for Windows 10 for your card. Some newer or higher-end APs are capable of operating at multiple bands (or channels) at the same time. Most of the time, Channel 1~14 (2.4GHz) are more congested than Channel 36~ (5GHz) but this can differ depending on the environment. Ideally, you would want to configure your AP to use a channel that isn't being used by any of your neighbors.
For other adapters use the 802.11n/ac Wireless Mode or HT Mode:
Use the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant to update your Intel® drivers.Ĩ02.11a/b/g Wireless Mode or Wireless Mode Update your adapter and wireless router software. To change these settings, see Advanced Intel® Wireless Adapter Settings.
I have tried updating my drivers via opening Boot Camp on MacOS, downloading the latest drivers (according to Boot Camp), and then installing them on Windows 10. Below are the default and recommended settings for Intel® Wireless Adapters supporting 802.11n. I am having an issue where I am unable to access the internet due to faulty drivers for the Broadcom WLAN 802.11ac installed in my computer.
